From Heaven to Hell

The leader of the team did not deny or admit, he gave a diplomatic answer,  “We are here only for the princess. You leave, and your life will be spared.”

Qian Xu, still as gentle and refined as always, smiled, “You leave, and your life will be spared.”

“You are asking for it!”

The leader of the team drew his gun and fired at them. All the bullets hit the stones in front of Qian Xu and Luo Lan.

Qian Xu fired back unceremoniously, every bullet hit their vital point.

The leader and his subordinates were forced to retreat to hide behind the rock. 

Nine men held their guns in their hands, but none fired. They dispersed into the rock forest. Surrounding and approaching Qian Xu and Luo Lan’s hiding place.

Qian Xu whispered, “Looks like their objective is to catch you alive, not to kill you. I will distract them, you find an opportunity to escape.”

Luo Lan flatly rejected, “No, let’s go together!”

“Once you are safe, I won’t need to worry anymore. I can move freely and secretly find opportunities to get rid of them. As soon as I get rid of them, I will meet you in the cave.”

It was certainly best for them to go separate ways so Qian Xu didn’t need to worry about her, Luo Lan understood it. She was self-aware. With her wounds, even if she stayed, she couldn’t be any help for Qian Xu, rather, she would be a burden. Just… There were nine people on the other side, the strength difference between them was huge. Their objective was to catch her alive, so they wouldn’t kill her. But that also means they wouldn’t hesitate to kill Qian Xu to catch her.

Luo Lan’s expression was ugly. Her lips were pursed in a straight line. 

Qian Xu knew Luo Lan agreed to his plan logically, but not emotionally. 

He gathered her into his arms.

He hugged her, tightly. 

This hug of his was suffocating. Luo Lan felt her breath was stolen from her and her eyes blurring. 

Then, he let her go.

“Hide! If someone approaches, shoot!” He shoved a gun into Luo Lan’s hand. Before she could react, Qian Xu already rushed out and fired at the people hiding behind the rock. 

Under the rain of bullets, a figure drifted from one place to another. Shortly, he vanished between the rocks in the rock forest. 

The leader ordered, “Leave him! Catch the princess!”

Nine people continued to surround Luo Lan’s hiding place.

She hid behind the rock. As instructed, every time someone approached her, she would shoot them. They easily dodged her bullets, they didn’t get hurt but their speed slowed.

“Ah一”

A short scream sounded, it faded as soon as it sounded. Obstructed by the towering rocks, no one knew what had happened. They could only speculate. The thing just now, it must be Qian Xu’s work.

The leader of the team shouted, “No. 3?”

No one answered. Without a doubt, No. 3 killed.

In the dark and silent night, the surrounding boulders were like ferocious monsters, looking very hideous and murderous.

The voice of the leader turned cold, “He only has level A physical ability. Next time he shows up, kill him immediately!”

The remaining seven people regained their composure. While guarding against Qian Xu’s sneak attack, they marched on to the place where Luo Lan was hiding.

Luo Lan knew that the death of No. 3 was an opportunity Qian Xu created for her to escape. Yet, her feet were frozen in place. Her heart wasn’t willing, she couldn’t leave Qian Xu alone.  

The opportunity was fleeting and everyone’s attention returned to her.

Luo Lan continued to delay their approach by shooting at them. 

Nevertheless, the gap between their strength was obvious. Their distance was shortening.

“There一”

A person yelled a warning. The moment his voice fell, the two nearest men raced over in a flash.

The sound of fighting came. 

This was another opportunity created by Qian Xu, Luo Lan knew it. She really wanted to leave, but her feet wouldn’t listen to her. She was worried about Qian Xu. The moment of hesitation made her lose another opportunity, the sounds of fighting had stopped.

The leader of the team asked, “What’s the situation?”

One of his subordinates was panting, he replied, “Escaped! No. 5 died and No. 8 seriously injured. But, he was also stabbed by me. He won’t be able to escape next time!”

The leader’s gaze sharpened. He commanded, “Continue advancing!”

Luo Lan chewed her lip hard. As long as she was here, Qian Xu would continue to create opportunities for her to escape. She must leave at the next opportunity!

Her distance to them was only 100 meters. 

“He is here!”

One of them successfully evaded Qian Xu’s sneak attack and he directly alerted the others. 

The leader had long held back his anger. He sped over in a flash. The two attacked back and forth. The leader’s attack was forceful, wanting to deal with Qian Xu quickly.

His physical ability was higher than that of Qian Xu. A series of killing moves were done in a blink of eyes. Qian Xu was covered with wounds in no time. 

The leader silently gestured to his subordinates

They cooperated, launching attacks from the left and right sides, forcing Qian Xu to retreat. The third man lurking behind the rock brandished his sword and aimed to stab Qian Xu in the heart.

It was tough for Qian Xu to dodge it. He jumped up. He clutched one of the rocks at a speed unimaginable to ordinary people and leaped onto a towering rock pillar.

The leader was caught off guard. He didn’t expect someone with only level A physical ability could escape the combined attack of the three of them.

“Go!” Qian Xu shouted. He crouched on the top of the rock pillar like a beast, his body trembling as if trying to suppress something.

Luo Lan instinctively cried out in fear, “Qian Xu!”

Qian Xu shouted again in a hoarse voice, “Go! ”

Luo Lan didn’t even care about escaping quietly anymore. She ran in the direction of the cave with all her strength.

In the boundless night, a forlorn and bitter long-drawn-out howl of a beast sounded.

Luo Lan snapped her head toward the voice’s direction. She witnessed Qian Xu mutating at the top of the rock pillar. The lower half of his body was still a human body, but the upper half had changed. He was raising his head in pain, howling.

No. Luo Lan couldn’t. She couldn’t endure watching it. Tears welled up in her eyes. She turned her face. Her only option was to run forward desperately.
