MLiS – Chapter 13.4

From Heaven to Hell

Zi Yan was solemn. He raised his hand and all the soldiers stood straight.

They held their guns. Quickly dispersing and circling Qian Xu.

Luo Lan quickly begged, “Zi Yan, don’t shoot! It’s Qian Xu!”

“The fifteen minutes of the golden rescue period have passed. He is a beast, not Qian Xu!” Zi Yan rebuked coldly.

“He is Qian Xu, he’ll wake up!”

As they were arguing, Qian Xu had already pounced on a soldier. The soldier hadn’t received any order from Zi Yan and did not dare to shoot. The soldier could only attempt to resist. But, Qian Xu was very fierce. The soldier was restraining himself and utterly unable to resist.

Perceiving Luo Lan’s stubbornness, Zi Yan decisively opened the light beam on his hand. The beam converged on Qian Xu, illuminating his surroundings as brightly as the day. “Luo Lan, take a clear look! He has completely mutated!”

Qian Xu felt provoked by the beam of light and burst into fury. He spun around and roared at Zi Yan.

Zi Yan was calm and poised. With a twist of his hand, several tarot cards whistled towards Qian Xu.

Purple light whirled and danced around Qian Xu, as mesmerizing as elves dancing. The appearance was mesmerizing, but, in fact, the ever-changing lights around Qian Xu were like a sharp dagger. Cutting his limbs, his body, and his neck.

Like a moth to a flame, a person plunged herself into the array of dazzling purple lights. Chasing all the lights with all her might.

She stretched her bare hands to catch the flashing purple lights and successfully caught the tarot cards. The rest that she couldn’t catch, she used her body to block it.

Her speed accelerated over and over. Gradually catching all the flashing purple lights.

There were fewer and fewer purple lights flashing around.

When the last purple light disappeared, Luo Lan stood bloody in front of the severely wounded Qian Xu. Held in her hands were eight of Zi Yan’s tarot cards; Pierced into her body were eight of Zi Yan’s tarot cards.

Zi Yan was astonished.

In order to protect Qian Xu, Luo Lan broke through her physical ability limit.

In the killing array created by his tarot cards, Luo Lan advanced her physical ability to level A!

She downright prioritized Qian Xu’s life and death before her’s!

Luo Lan flung the blood-soaked tarot card to the ground. Her eyes were sharp. She tenaciously faced Zi Yan and the consul, “If you want to kill him, you must kill me first!”

“Stop protecting an animal that tries to eat you! It’s meaningless!”

Zi Yan couldn’t understand how Luo Lan’s brain works. As a successor of the Duke title, he was raised strictly since he was a child. He had witnessed and experienced many changes firsthand. Reluctance, grief, fear, even hatred. He had seen it all.

He learned that, ultimately, everyone would always weigh the gains and losses in front of reality. They would choose the most rational choices.

Abandoning what they have to abandon; Protecting what is worth protecting.

Luo Lan continued proving him wrong.

For the first time in his life, he realized how far someone could go for another person. Regardless of consequences; Regardless of gains or losses, there was someone that could cherish a mutated beast like a treasure and dared to use their life to protect it.

“I will take care of him! I will never let him make trouble! Please, let him go!” Luo Lan pleaded with all sincerity she could muster. Her eyes kept watching Zi Yan and the consul vigilantly.

“How will you take care of it? It will always be in a state of madness, attacking and biting at everything. No tranquilizer can calm it down! ”

The gear on Luo Lan’s mind was rotating quickly. She was trying to find sound reasons to convince Zi Yan and the consul.

Qian Xu, who had been lying on the ground, suddenly lifted his head, his scarlet eyes gazing coldly at Luo Lan. Zi Yan directly waved his hand and shot out his tarot cards. His murderous aura became even more compelling. He aimed straight to Qian Xu’s throat.

Luo Lan hurtled backward, attempting to intercept the tarot cards.

Qian Xu had long been preparing for this moment. The moment Luo Lan approached him, he pounced on her.

Luo Lan’s hands caught Zi Yan’s cards. She used her body as a shield to block the remaining cards for Qian Xu. Only, behind her, Qian Xu was ready to open his mouth and mercilessly tried to bite her.

At the critical moment, the consul appeared beside Luo Lan. One hand pushed her away from Qian Xu. The other flung Qian Xu away from her.

Luo Lan had no time to turn back to stop the consul. She could only utilize the tarot cards she had caught in her hands as a weapon. She hurled it at the consul’s hand with force.

The dazzling purple light gashed the consul’s wrist, and the consul was forced to slow down.

Luo Lan seized the opportunity. She dashed forwards. She removed the tarot cards that pierced her body one after another. All were hurled at the consul.

The consul didn’t perceive it as a threat. He flicked all the cards away with one hand smoothly and beat Qian Xu ruthlessly with the other hand.

“Stop it!”

Luo Lan’s shout was heartbreaking. She forced herself to move faster.

She rushed towards Qian Xu and obstructed the consul from beating Qian Xu.

The consul was bewildered by her move. He abruptly halted his movement, from hitting Qian Xu to catching Luo Lan and yanking her away from Qian Xu in an instant.

In a blink of an eye; A short moment of a split second, when the consul halted his movement, Qian Xu’s fangs had punctured Luo Lan’s arm and snapped it off.

The consul was one step too late. When Luo Lan was protected in his arms, her blood had splashed out. Not only did the blood splash all over Luo Lan’s face, but it also splashed on the consul’s cold mask.

“You…”

“Your arm…”

The consul stared at Luo Lan’s bitten arm. His icy blue eyes were full of disbelief.

Luo Lan’s countenance paled because of the pain, but her mind was full of Qian Xu. With her only hand left, she grasped the consul’s arm despairingly, “Don’t kill him! I beg you! Please…!”

The consul held the crumbling Luo Lan tightly with one of his hands. Using his other hand, with speed invisible to ordinary humans, he shot at Qian Xu without hesitation.

A shrilling cry sounded in the boundless night.

Qian Xu swayed and slowly slumped to the ground.

Anyway, believe in the power of love…?

Oh, hey. At least, in a positive light, she advanced to level A…?

Ah, this is so painful. (I actually translated this backward because I am not strong enough to translate it from the start)

Chapter 13.4 Ultimately, everyone would always weigh the gains and losses in front of reality. They would choose the most rational choices.

Chapter 6. 2 Luo Lan waited for a while, but there was no reply from Qian Xu. She smiled bitterly, her heart was astringent.  Every choice in life would result in gain and loss. In the face of reality, Luo Lan chose what she needed most.

Before, she can lose Qian Xu. Right now, she can’t lose Qian Xu.

Right, right. I want to say something in Chapters 12.6 and 13.1 Corner but I forgot to.

I think, from reading Chapters 12.6 and 13.1, what Luo Lan wants the most… More than a lover or love between man and woman… What she wants the most is a home, a family.  Because there is Qian Xu for her, she wants to build a home for them and become a family with him.

But hey, it’s just an opinion of mine. A mere opinyon!
